Cookie Policy

Last updated September 6, 2026
The short version. eclipsecompetition.com sets no cookies of its own and uses no tracking, analytics or advertising cookies. The public site keeps a few display preferences in your browser’s local storage. The driver portal keeps your login session in local storage so you stay signed in. That is all — which is why you don’t see a cookie banner here.

1. Why there is no cookie banner

Laws such as the EU ePrivacy Directive and the UK’s PECR require consent for cookies and similar storage unless the storage is strictly necessary to provide a service you asked for, or is used only to remember your display preferences. Everything listed below falls under those exemptions, so no consent is required and we do not ask for it. Those laws still require us to tell you what we store and why, which is what this page does. If we ever add analytics, embedded social content or anything else that needs consent, we will add a consent prompt first and update this page.

2. Cookies

We set none. No page on eclipsecompetition.com sends a Set-Cookie header from our code, and we load no third-party scripts that could set cookies for us.

Two exceptions outside our code, both strictly necessary:

3. Browser local storage

Local storage is a browser feature similar to cookies, except the data stays on your device and is never sent to any server. We use it for the items below. They persist until you clear your browser’s site data.

3.1 Public site

KeyWhat it storesPurpose
ec-ribbon-dismissedThe ID of the “latest result” banner you closedSo the banner stays closed on your next visit
ec-accent, ec-hero, ec-densityDisplay settings (accent colour, hero layout, spacing)Remembers the look you chose; only changes if you use the design tweaks panel

3.2 Driver portal

KeyWhat it storesPurpose
sb-uxiwpsfvmupvwhcmgdqt-auth-tokenYour Supabase login session (access and refresh tokens plus basic profile details from Discord)Keeps you signed in to the portal between visits. Removed when you log out.
ec-guild-ok-<your user id>A flag that your Discord account was confirmed as a member of the Eclipse serverSo the membership check runs once instead of on every page load

4. What we don’t use

5. Managing storage

You can view and delete everything above from your browser’s site-data settings (for example, Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → View permissions and data stored across sites; Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data). Clearing the portal’s storage simply signs you out. Blocking storage entirely still lets you read the public site; the portal needs it to keep you signed in.
